About us
Foundation National Monument Srebrenica Genocide '95 was officially established in January 2024. However, the initiative for this was already alive among several organizations.
Indeed, in early 2019, some members of the Srebrenica Genocide National Remembrance Committee took the initiative to establish a national monument to commemorate the terrible events that followed the fall of Srebrenica. They established a separate working group called: National Memorial Srebrenica Genocide '95.
The composition of this working group was diverse and included survivors of the genocide itself. The working group was further supplemented by representatives of Association Dutchbat 3. This working group is the founder and principal in establishing this foundation.
Other participating organizations:
Association Survivors of Srebrenica Genocide July 1995
Association Dutchbat 3 (umbrella association for veterans of Dutchbat 3)
Islamic Association of Bosniaks in the Netherlands (IZBN - 9 associations)
Platform BiH (Umbrella organization of Bosnian NGOs)
Mladi BiH (umbrella Bosnian youth organization)
Designing Memory (Agency specializing in memorial architecture)
The working group established at the time has continued to exist and currently provides an advisory and supportive role to the board of the foundation.
